Disable autoloading Flash in Google Chrome

Flash is dying on the decline but it’s still used as a security exploit actively. If you want to add that extra layer of protection, there are a few things you can do.

For one, use Google Chrome browser! It’s updated regularly, it’s fast and it will allow you to defend yourself against flash attacks.
Secondly, disable automatic loading of Flash plugins:

  1. In chrome, click on the menu icon to the right of the address bar:
  2. Select Settings from the menu.
  3. Scroll down until you see Show Advanced Settings link and click it.
  4. Now click the content settings button under Privacy:
  5. Scroll down to Plugins, select the Let me choose when to run plugin content option and hit DONE.

That’s it! Now when you visit a website with flash content you will see a grey box as this:

If you trust the source and wish to play the content, right click in the grey box and select Run this plugin.
